Venita Janello
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Venita "Suggie" Janello passed away at home on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
She was born on Aug. 31, 1923 near Du Quoin to Carl and Clara (Terry) McMurray. She married Frank H. Janello on Oct. 18, 1942.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Janello of Cobden, and Pamela Janello of Bellevue, Washington; her granddaughter, Anne Pogue of Boston, Massachusetts; her sister, Wilma Walker of Du Quoin; her brother, Dean McMurray of Mt. Vernon; and many sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Walter McMurray, her parents-in-law Joseph and Lena Janello, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
Venita was actively involved in her community through her participation in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, AARP, Widowed Persons Service of Jackson County, Carbondale Garden Club, Carbondale Girl Scouts, and multiple area bridge clubs. She was a supporter of the Republican Party and a long-time election judge in Carbondale. She also provided 30 years of volunteer service to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, and was a member of the University Baptist and Murdale Baptist Churches. She was a member of the Young at Hearts group at Murdale Baptist Church, and was a long-time Sunday school teacher and nursery coordinator at University Baptist Church.
Along with her husband, she was a co-founder of Franklin Insurance Agency, where she worked for many years. Venita also worked at the Janello Insurance Agency and The Abbey (now Oak Grove Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center).
Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 27, at the Murdale Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation began the same day at 10:00 a.m. Interment was at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to any of the following: the Beta Sigma Phi scholarship fund, American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation, Hospice of Southern Illinois, or a charity of your choice.
