Du Quoin Formalizes $5,000 Downtown Grant Program

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The City of Du Quoin announces the availability of grants up to $5,000 for

the purposes of building renovation/redevelopment within the Du Quoin

Business District.

Grants must be matched privately on a dollar for dollar basis to improve

facades, install awning and energy efficient windows, remove obsolete

deteriorated exterior staircases, install grease traps, and/or other related

physical improvements to storefronts and commercial structures involving

carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and approved signage.

The program intent is to bundle a number of business district redevelopments

that can support new or existing businesses while creating some employment

opportunities.

All projects selected must be completed by Dec. 31, 2010. The program focus

is on Main Street from Washington to Hickory Street, however all

applications received from with the Du Quoin Tax Increment Financing

District #1 will be considered.

The program is also focused on building renovations reflecting an original

building design that connects to the Community&#185;s heritage. Applications for

the grants are available at the Office of the City Clerk at 302 East Poplar

Street. The application deadline is April 15, 2010.
