Boys, girls prep track: Dejear wins twice, PCHS opens boys season
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Kiyanna Dejear won two individual events Tuesday as Du Quoin High School's girls track and field team placed third among four entries at the Herrin quadrangular.
The Lady Indians will run Saturday at the Carterville Invitational but have adjusted their schedule, opting out of Friday's earlier scheduled trip to Herrin's Lady Tigert Invitational.
Dejear swept the dash events, taking the 100 meters (12.44) and the 200 (27.3). Those were the lone two of the three first place efforts for Du Quoin, which scored 49 points. Herrin (90) was first with Carterville (72) placing second. Johnston City (33) ended up fourth.
Alexis Mitchell won the 100 meter hurdles (20.1).
"We had a few personal bests and overall it was a pretty good meet,' DHS assistant coach Shawn File said. "Dejear's time in the 100 was pretty amazing."

HERRIN BOYS OPEN
At Herrin Tuesday, Pinckneyville's boys opened the season and were fourth among the seven teams entered with 54 points.
Taylor Pyatt (40'5 1/2) was second in the Triple Jump with Clint Graff (4'2) third among the shot put entries.
PCHS was also second in the 4x100 relay (46.6).
Herrin (212) finished first in the team race ahead of Carterville (103), Vienna-(98), PCHS, Goreville (32), C-Z-R (22) and Paducah, Ky. St. Mary's (10).
