Pinckneyville Guarantees Premium Loan for Perry County Fair

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Pinckneyville City Council passed a resolution Monday evening to guarantee a $42,000 loan from Murphy Wall State Bank to the Perry County Agricultural Society. The city has guaranteed a similar loan each year for many years.

Ag Society Treasurer Sam Robb said that in years past the state had reimbursed 65 percent of the premiums paid to fair competitors. Last year the Fair Board was told that the reimbursement would drop to 30 percent. When the check from the state actually arrived, they had been reimbursed for only 28 percent of the premium costs.

"We've been told to expect a 17 percent decrease in funding this year," Robb said. "That will take it to about 23 percent reimbursement."

He added that though the funding has decreased, Perry County is luckier than some other surrounding Fair Boards. Randolph County still has not received a check for last year's premium reimbursement.

Robb said he has re-calculated the entire premium schedule for the 2010 Perry County Fair, which is set for June 19 to 26 this year.
