Weekend prep softball: Lady Falcons claim EIT title

Saturday, the host Lady Falcons won three games to sweep the tourney&#39;s title. A 4-2 win in the final contest against Hamilton County secured the championship.

"We played great defensively and turned a double play in each game." EHS coach Donette Wheatley said. "

"Kelsi Teague is finally getting back healthy and pitched every inning for us. She got stronger every game."

Elverado blanked Webber Townsip 16-0 and then defeated Shawnee 9-4 in pool play.

The Lady Falcons ripped 16, eight and 11 hits in the tourney wins and had several batting stars.

Corrine Wilson was 6-for-9 with five RBI and scored five times.

Kelsey Tuthill added five hits with six RBI, tripling and smacking a home run. Freshman Meghan Trammel went 5-for-6 with a double.

Wilson and Chelsea Cochran hit home runs.

Sami Hicks knocked in two runs in the final game versus HamCo with Wilson and Lacey Qualls adding the other RBI.

Teague limited the Lady Foxes to only four hits.

"We adjusted well against each pitcher and hit the ball very well all day," Wheatley said.

Elverado visits defending Class 1A state champion Cobden for a 4:30 game Monday.
