The Lady Panthers (7-1) are 22-1 overall and host Murphysboro Wednesday. Du Quoin falls to 11-7 and 2-5. At 4;30 Wednesday, they'll visit Steeleville.
"We made some mistakes in the field that let Du Quoin stay around," PCHS coach Greg Hale said. "Only one of the runs we allowed were earned. Emily Chapman pitched well and got us a lot fieldable balls."
Emily Miller and Taylor Cicardi homered for the Lady Panthers, who battered Du Quoin hurlers Cassidy Rice (6-4) and Cassidy Rice for 10 hits, six for extra bases.
PCHS plateed three runs in the second inning and never looked bacl. They also added three spots in the fourth and fifth frames.
"The difference in this game was that both teams had runners on almost inning," Du Quoin coach Jason James said. "But they came up with the big hits and we did not. I thought we took better swings today, we just couldn't come up with that big two-out hit."
Mo Ramsey, Miller and Sheristy Stanton enjoyed two-hit games for PCHS with Ramsey knocking in four runs and Miller two more.
Du Quoin had six hits against Chapman, two by freshman Hadley Marek.
Hill doubled with Kelsey Toler belting a solo home run.
Ashley Hess, Jessica Hirsch and Kelsey Robinson also hit safely.
"As you can tell by the list we had some clutch hitting today," Hale said.
