Elmer Theodore Mohr,

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elmer Theodore Mohr, 81, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:21 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Elmer had worked as a sheet metal specialist for Koerner & Sons and Genesio&#39;s for several years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, a third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 1298. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Elmer was born Sept. 10, 1928 at Tamaroa, Ill. the son of Albert and Bertha (Brand) Mohr.

He married Joann Ruth Schafer on June 19, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and she passed away April 9, 2009.

He is survived by a daughter- Lisa Mohr of Du Quoin, two sons- Karl Mohr of Johnston City and Randel Mohr and wife Karla of West City, two grandchildren- Caron Sullens and husband Michael of Decatur and Shelly Mohr of Herrin, three step grandchildren- Drake LeBrun of West City and Tyler Knowles and Morgan Knowles of West City, great granddaughter- Aries Joann "Itty Bitty" Sullens, three sisters- Helen Keiner of Centralia, Wilma Fischer and Delores Folkerts, both of St. Louis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother- Firman Mohr and sister Alberta Epplin.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. James VanOss and Fr. Peter Hsu officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. The Rosary was prayed at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Masses or to Five Star Industries and will be accepted at the funeral home.
