Ernestine Marie Jenkel
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ernestine Marie Jenkel, age 87, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away Saturday morning, April 17, 2010, at her home.
Ernestine was born on Sept. 29, 1922, in Perry County, Ill., a daughter to Henry and Lula (Egbert) Schwartzkopf. Sixty-nine years ago, on Sept. 3, 1940, in Missouri, with her parents as witnesses, Ernestine married Herschel John Jenkel and he survives. Before her children were born, Ernestine worked at the Pinckneyville Garment Factory, and after they were all in school, she worked in housekeeping at Pinckneyville Community Hospital until her retirement. Ernestine was a faithful member of the Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., where for many years she volunteered in the nursery.
Ernestine is survived by her husband, Herschel Jenkel of Pinckneyville, Ill., three daughters, Marilyn (Gene) Pick of Pinckneyville, Ill., Susie (Ron) Weeks of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Kathryn (Tony Fontana) Jenkel of Carbondale, Ill.; one son, Ross (Kathy) Jenkel of Tamaroa, Ill.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Nicole (Doug) Teel and their children, Lucas, Brevin, Isaac, Vanessa and Zachary of Tamaroa, Ill., Kelly (Jay) Pursell and their children, Easton and Ella of Waterloo, Ill., and David (Amanda) Pick of Pinckneyville, Ill.; one sister, Irma Stolz of Coulterville, Ill.; two brothers, Richard (Betty) Schwartzkopf and Mervin (Dolores) Schwartzkopf ,both of Nashville, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Irene Schwartzkopf of Du Bois, Ill., Virginia Schwartzkopf of Nashville, Ill., Erla Jenkel of Pinckneyville, Ill., Laura Jane Ogilvie of Cerritos, Calif.; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Dorothy) Jenkel of East Peoria, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Orval and James Schwartzkopf; and three brothers-in-law, Ornell Stolz, Dean Jenkel and Jack Ogilvie.
Funeral services were held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Lee officiating. Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends called at Beaucoup Baptist Church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill., was in charge of the arrangements.
