</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The PCHS Board of Education took several small steps to save money, including policy manual changes.

Superintendent Jon Green said summer hours for the school have been changed to 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday for the office. The maintenance staff will work 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Fridays.

Green said he hopes the new hours will allow the district to save money by shutting down the building for an additional half day on Friday and allow business to be conducted for an additional hour during the week.

Following an executive session, the board agreed to restructure the cafeteria staff. A cafeteria manager position will be posted. After a manager is hired, the board will determine how many additional positions are needed. There are currently four cafeteria employees. They are all free to apply for the new positions.

The board also agreed to change the minimum hours for educational support personnel to receive benefits from the present 600 hours to 1,250 hours. The change does not apply to current employees.

Additional changes were made to bring guidelines for non-certified employees in line with certified staff. Non-certified employees will now be able to bank up to 240 sick days and personal leave days.

Part-time personnel will be eligible for up to 10 vacation days for in years two through five of employment, 15 days in years six to 15 and 20 days for 16 or more years of employment. Vacation days cannot be carried over from year to year.
