Robert Henry Farmer, 83

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert Henry Farmer, 83, of Pinckneyville, IL, died May 2, 2010, at Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

The son of James H. and Jeffie (Brockham) Farmer, he was born April 30, 1927 in Blevine, AR.

On September 15, 1949, he married Rosetta Pender, and she preceded him in death in 1981. Robert later married Mary L. Loback on February 21, 1983 in Buncombe, IL, and she preceded him in death in 2008.

Mr. Farmer served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a seaman first class, and he was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3553 in Chester, IL. He was of the Baptist faith and was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include his children: Robert W. Farmer Sr. of Pinckneyville, IL, Dianna Wheat of Baldwin, IF, Victoria and James Burke Sr. of White Haven, PA, Patricia and Phillip Hooten of Steeleville, IL, Steven L. Farmer Sr. of Buncombe, IL, William and Sonia Farmer of Percy, IL, Michael Farmer, Jeffery Farmer, and Janet Jordan, all of Pinckneyville, IL; step-daughters: Eva and Dennis Prader of Anna, IL, and Kimberly and Mike Jones of North Carolina; 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren with two on the way; one great-great grandson and one on the way; several nieces and nephews; and sister, Marge Abernathy of Wolf Lake, IL.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Phillip Keeton officiating. Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening and on Wednesday morning from 7:30 a.m. until hour of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
