Robert A. Black
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert A. "Doc" Black, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:05 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Doc had worked as a painter for over 35 years. He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the Painters Union and the American Legion.
He was born March 15, 1920 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Charles and Lillian (Dunavon) Black. He married Norma Simmons on April 15, 1950 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she preceded him in death on January 8, 1993.
He is survived by three children - Charles Black and wife Kim of Du Quoin, Jane Russell and husband Louie of Du Quoin, and Mark Black of Pinckneyville, three grandchildren - Chas Black, Kayla Black, and Jimmie Holmes, and one great grandchild - Shia Holmes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother - Dean Black.
Graveside services were at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Quinn officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Those attending the graveside service were asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Liberty Church Weekend Warrior Program and will be accepted at the funeral home.
