Boys prep track: Hoffman, Pyatt, Morgenstern win first place medals
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[In its final tune-up for Friday's IHSA Class 2A Sectional, Du Quoin High School's boys track team finished third at Nashville's Jared Morris Invitational.
Scoring 62 points, Du Quoin was a distant second place behind Sparta (126) and Nashville (114). Pinckneyville had 27 points, sharing second place with Madison.
Karson Hoffman of Du Quoin won the 400 meters (50.41) while Pinckneyville's Taylor Pyatt (42'11) was first in the triple jump.
Brock Morgenstern was Du Quoin's second winner, taking the shot put with a toss of 47'10.
Both the Indians and Panthers return to Nashville for Friday's sectional.
