Brock Morgenstern and Karson Hoffman each qualified for the state prelims following first place finishes at the Nashville Sectional this past Friday.
Morgenstern won the shot put with a toss of 49'1 while Hoffman streaked to an easy win in the 400 and also won the triple jump on just two attempts.
Hoffman (49.1) posted what turned out to be the second best time in all statewide sectionals among 400 runners.
He went 43'0 in the triple jump, capturing the sectional title by nearly two foot.
Pinckneyville's lone placer at the sectional was senior Jake Bathon, who went 6'1 1/2 in the high jump to finish third.
Pinckneyville had six total points in the meet with Du Quoin's 46 good enough to share fifth position with Anna-Jonesboro.
