Martha E. Howie, 98

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Martha E. Howie, 98, of Steeleville, IL, died May 21, 2010, at St. Ann's Healthcare Center, Chester, IL.

The daughter of Martin and Emilie (Biermann) Ebers, she was born February 25, 1912 in Wine Hill, IL.

On July 11, 1931, she married Glen W. Howie in Chester, IL, and he preceded her in death in 1993.

Martha was a homemaker and worked at the International Shoe Factory. She was of the Lutheran Faith, having been baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill, IL. She was very loved and cherished and will be missed by all.

Survivors include two daughters-Violet Welge of Chester, IL, and Sandra (Oscar) Caraway of Welge, IL; seven grandchildren-Robin (Richard) Rohlfing, Judith Caves, Curtis (Debra) Welge, Scott (Glenna) Welge, Chris (Sarah) Caraway, Danielle (Scott) Hennrich, and Matt (Rebecca) Caraway; eight great-grandchildren: Benjamin and Cameron Rohlfing, Katherine Frazer, Weston Welge, Isaac & Malachi Caraway, Kaleb & Mattison Hennrich; one step great-grandchild, Jenifer (Toby) Ellner; three great-great grandchildren, Kenneth, Shilouh & Andrew Frazer; two step great-great grandchildren, Cameron & Avery Ellner; one sister, Florence Galbraith of St. Louis, MO; two sisters-in-law, Violet Ebers and Leona Ebers, both of Steeleville; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Glen M. Howie and his wife Molly; two great-grandsons, Todd & Darrell Frazer; six sisters-Esther Grine, Selma Folkers, Luella Bollman, Verna Urban, Marie Ebers, and Irene Morgan; and four brothers-Herbert, Clarence, Amos, & Norman Ebers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Tim B. Zechiel officiating. Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or for Donor's choice.
