Mary Ellen Vasquez, 92

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Ellen Vasquez, 92, of Chester, Illinois, died May 17, 2010 at Memorial Hospital, Chester, Illinois.

The daughter of William and Katherine (nee Katzmark) Daniel, she was born on August 24, 1917 in Murphysboro, Illinois.

On November 23, 1940, she married Richard G. Vasquez in Raddle, Illinois, and he preceded her in death in 2001.

Mary Ellen had worked at the International Shoe Company and was a homemaker. She and her husband Richard spent many years traveling the country and especially enjoyed many winters at their favorite spot on a lake in Texas. She enjoyed nature and tending her flowers which were the subject of many of her oil paintings. Her children have these beautiful paintings hanging in their homes which were her gifts and her lasting remembrance of them. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester, a 50 year member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3553, Chester, Chester Women's Club, and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include one son, Richard P. (Laura) Vasquez of Chester, IL; four daughters-Kay (Larry) Fox of Belleville, IL, Ruth Vasquez of Peoria Heights, IL, Jean (Rick) O'Dell of New Haven, KY, and Lynette (Wayne) Gerler of Jackson, TN; 10 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers - Franklin, Henry, Robert, Oliver and Alfred Daniel; and one sister, Pauline Collier

Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois, with Father Eugene Wojcik officiating. Burial was in the St. Mary&#8218;&#196;&#244;s Catholic Cemetery, Chester, Illinois.
