Men's fastpitch softball: KC/Lee's Sports wins Terry Deering Memorial

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Sweeping the weekend with a perfect 5-0 record, Pinckneyville KC/Lee&#39;s Sports won the championship of its 13th Annual Terry Deering Memorial Fastpitch Softball tournament Sunday afternoon.

Now 14-2, the local team plays Altamont Home Center Tuesday night as the Budweiser Memorial Classic opens in Teutopolis.

Behind the hurling of tournament Most Valuable Pitcher John Kiselewski, KC/Lee&#39;s Sports defeated Belleville Stallions twice on Sunday to secure the crown. Scores were 7-0 and 11-2.

In the nune-run victory, Rick Kasban led off the game with a solo home ru, A zix-run first included a two-run single from Hayden Hicks and RBI hits by Lyle Winter, Ryan Colle and Travis Klingler.

Ryan Colle added in the third with Eric Saunders, Kisilewski knocking in runs as the lead expanded to 9-2 by the fourth.

Hicks and Klingler knocked in the final tallies.

Bellevillle finished the tourney with a 3-2 mark while third place Pete&#39;s Blues of Swansea went 5-2.

Black-Gold Fastpitch from Hermann, Mo. (2-2) took fourth and defending champion Elkville Fastpiotch (1-2) was fifth in a tie with Kelso, Mo.

KnightHawk Coal of Scheller (2-2) took seventh with Elkville-based Southern Illinois Bulls eighth.

The Old Relics of Pinckneyville and Villa Grove, Il. Hurricanes were each 0-3.

KC/Lee&#39;s Sports left the tourney with both individual awards. Kisilewski was 4-0 in the pitchers circle with Haven Hicks named Most Valuable Player. Hicks was 10-for-17during the five games with four RBI, five runs scored and three triples.
