Raymond George Nehrkorn

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[George Nehrkorn, age 81, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. in Pinckneyville Health Care Center, Pinckneyville, Ill.

George was born on Feb. 26, 1929 in rural Pinckneyville, Ill., a son to Chris and Clara Stella (Gass) Nehrkorn. He married Melba Jean Rennison in Pinckneyville, Ill. and she preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2009.

George was a member of the Baptist faith and attended Cross Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. where he served as deacon for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, worked at M.C.A. Records in Pinckneyville, Ill. for 17 years and worked construction for Goldman and Sons Roofing. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bicycling, Panthers Basketball, Cardinals Baseball as well as playing and coaching church softball. He was fun loving with a joking personality. George's greatest joys in life came from his family; he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

George is survived by four children, Cindy (Kendall) Abbott of Powder Spring, Ga., Ronald (Lesa) Nehrkorn of Dexter, Mo., Martha (Bruce) Kellerman of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Glen (WaWanna) Nehrkorn of Dexter, Mo.; two brothers, Gene Nehrkorn of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Bill (JoAnn) Nehrkorn of Tamaroa, Ill.; one sister, Wanda H. Miller of Pinckneyville, Ill.; grandchildren, Erica Nehrkorn, Amanda Loos, Anthony (Kara) Kellerman, and Jamie (Janelle) Kellerman all of Pinckneyville, Ill., Ronald Nehrkorn, Jr., Jara Nehrkorn and Chase Nehrkorn all of Dexter, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Dominic Loos, Alexis Loos and Kaleb Kellerman; and numerous dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Paul and Robert Nehrkorn; and two sisters, Clara Goldman and Myrtle McElroy.

Funeral services were held at Roe's Dale Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Charles Smith officiating. Interment was in Concord Baptist Cemetery, Rice, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
