Sparta Bulldogs at state

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Class 1A Boys Track and Field State Championships at Charleston saw several Sparta athletes competing in the preliminary round on Thursday.

Cody Klein remains the favorite in the pole vault as his mark of 14&#39;00" won his preliminary flight. Preston Nance moved on to the finals of the high jump as he and several other competitors all cleared 6&#39;3" to qualify.

Sparta also will be represented in two relays as the 4x100 team finished third in their heat with a time of 43.82 and the 4x200 team took second in their heat in 1:30.69.

Sparta had several other participants in the preliminary round who did not qualify for the finals. Corey Hale took 11th in his flight in the discus with a throw of 131&#39;07", Jon Hill was 8th in his heat of the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:36.68, Tyler Bierman took 4th in his heat of the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.48., the 4x800 relay team took 5th in their heat in 8:18.51 and the 4x400 relay team finished 4th in their heat in a time of 3:29.36.
