Assistant Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer said he believes some or all of the three are involved in the robberies of Sonic restaurants in West Frankfort on June 27 and in Du Quoin June 29.
Ellermeyer said evidence found at the scene of the West Frankfort robbery led investigators to three men from the Mount Vernon area whose movements were being followed.
They were arrested by Massac County authorities on the eve of what police thought would be the robbery of the sonic in Metropolis. Ellermeyer said the three either were or are employees of Sonic and know the routine in the restaurants.
The Du Quoin restaurant was robbed shortly after midnight on June 29th. The drive-in was closed. The robbers smashed the front door glass and robbed the drive-in of about $1,400.
