Craft Beer Dinner to be held at the Landmark
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Anyone interested in enjoying good food, a beautiful view, and sampling and learning more about craft beer from the Midwest is invited to attend the first ever Craft Beer Dinner at the Captain's Table in the historic Landmark on Saturday, July 17th at 7:00 p.m. A four-course dinner will be served, each course paired with a particular style of craft beer from breweries including Morgan Street, Schlafly's, and Six Row. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Chester Tourism Committee.
A "Craft" Brewery is generally defined as small, independent and traditional. Craft breweries produce much smaller quantities as compared to major, national and international breweries, and distribute their product in a limited geographic area. They are typically owned by individuals, not large corporations; their products use traditional ingredients and processes. They are also known for taking historic recipes and adding unique ingredients to create new flavor profiles. Today there are over 1500 craft breweries in the US, and craft beer sales have increased annually approximately 10% while total beer sales are down slightly.
Rob Lumley, a member of the Master Brewer's Association of America, will provide a description of the styles of beer, information on the brewing process, and background on the participating breweries. A variety of beer styles will be served including the 2010 World Beer Cup winning Pilsner from Morgan St. Brewery, the Schlafly's Hefeweizen and Munich Helles, and Strong Porter from Six Row Brewing.
Tickets are $25.00 per person and must be purchased in advance from either locations of Buena Vista National Bank, at the Landmark, or at the Chamber of Commerce Office. Please contact 826-2721 for more information. The Landmark is located at 111 Ferry St. on the Chester riverfront (phone 826 -2114).
