Du Quoin MS Band Camp Opens Monday

Camp will run for five days; July 19, 20, 21, 22, 23. Camp will begin each day with color guard only from 8 until 9 a.m. The percussion only will rehearse from 9 until 10 a.m. each day. Then the middle school band will join the percussion at 10 until 11:30 a.m.
Rehearsals will be held in the air conditioned middle school band room, as the band learns to play the music for this fall's performances.
A camp fee of $18 will be required of each student to help pay for camp costs. "Although I wish there was another alternative, this fee is required of every band and color guard member. The fees are used to pay our staff for the week," Montgomery said.
Wind players will need a flip folder and lyre; these will be used throughout the school year. You will be able to purchase these items on Wednesday of camp.
Cost will be announced at camp for those wishing to purchase them at that time. Please pay for these items separately from the camp fee. Percussion (snare drum and quads) will have to purchase their sticks. These will also be made available for purchase at camp. Again, please pay for these separately from the camp fee.
If you do not have a band polo shirt, please use the order form sent to parents to place your order. "We use this polo shirt for the fair parade and all basketball games. Cost for the shirt is $22.00," he said.
It is very important that you attend ALL sessions of camp. If you have a conflict, let me know. Even if you have to miss some sessions, please attend all other sessions. "Our entire fall performances are based on what can be accomplished at this camp!" he said.
