22-year-old Damon T. Batten of Ellis Grove, IL, was arrested July 24, 2010 for Improper Display of Plate, No Valid Driver's License, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, and Unlawful Possession of Drive Paraphernalia.
36-year-old Michael L. Mattingly of Chester was arrested July 24, 2010 for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Chemicals, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Chemical Breakdown of Controlled Substance, and Driving with License Suspended or Revoked.
31-year-old Joseph A. Mattingly of Chester was arrested July 24, 2010 for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Chemicals, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Chemical Breakdown of Controlled Substance.
34-year-old Michael L. Jones of Chester was arrested July 24, 2010 for No Valid Driver's License and No Registration Sticker.
During the week the Chester Police Department responded to or issued: 4 warning tickets and 6 accidents.
Perry County
Sheriff's Report
On Sunday, July 25, 2010 at approximately 5 p.m., the Perry County Sheriff's Office received a phone call. The caller stated he was on Cudgetown Rd. (south of Pinckneyville) at the Beaucoup Creek bridge and he found a body floating in the creek. The caller stated he believed the person was dead.
Perry County Deputies responded to the scene and located a body floating in the creek apparently deceased. Investigators from the Perry County Task Force started a Death Investigation which is still ongoing. Perry County Coroner Paul Searby called the time of death at 5:30 p.m.
At this time the body, a female, has not been positively identified. As soon as more information is available, the sheriff's office will release it.
Illinois State Police Crime Scene, Perry County Coroner's Office, DuQuoin and Pinckneyville Police are assisting the Perry County Sheriff's Office in the investigation. Pinckneyville Fire Dept. assisted in recovering the body.
Sparta Police Report
On 7-22-10 Ashley N. Buecher, 19, Sparta, was arrested for Underage Consumption of Alcohol, Disobeyed Traffic Control Device, and No Insurance. Was also charged with Zero Tolerance. Posted bond.
On 7-23-10 Paul O. Green, 39, Sparta, was arrested on a RC warrant for Failure to Appear. Was taken to RC Jail.
On 7-23-10 Shanlante N. Simpson, 23, Sparta, was arrested for Driving While License Suspended. Was taken to RC Jail.
On 7-24-10 Timothy Wilkes, 22, Sparta, was arrested on a RC warrant for Failure to Appear. Posted bond.
On 7-25-10 Roger D. Hern, 65, Chester, was arrested for DUI and Speeding. Was taken to RC Jail.
