Emma Lena McCormick

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Emma Lena McCormick, 84, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Lena was a homemaker. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Du Quoin, where she played the piano for many years. Lena also served as the church custodian for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, painting and caring for her flower garden.

She was born Jan. 5, 1926 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Ephraim and Lizzie (Reed) McCormick.

She is survived by one brother - Everett McCormick and wife Mary of Maryland, two sisters-in-law - Kathryn McCormick of Florida and Dorothy McCormick of Du Quoin, one nephew - Dennis McCormick of Maryland, seven nieces - Sharon Sellers of Florida, Carolyn Joyce of Du Quoin, Pauline Olinger of Princeton, IL, Linda Sherman of Tamaroa, Betty Elders, Faye Schobert, and Pamela Oliver, all of Du Quoin, and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister - Cleo DeWind, five brothers - Paul, Clarence, E.F. "Huck", Curtis "Tom", and Ernest, two sisters-in-law - Edna and Fleta, one niece - Julie and a dear friend - May Lemmons Adams.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Pastor Matthew Andrew officiating.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
