Gerald Lynn Killian

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gerald Lynn "Monk" Killian, 60, of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Du Quoin, was called home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 6:50 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at the Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Gerald had worked as a lab technician, working with Silicone Sand. He was a member of Gayles Memorial Church in Aurora, Ill. for a number of years. He then moved to Florissant, Mo. in 2008 and became a member of Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, Mo. He had been involved in social service activities in the church as well as community activities. Gerald was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and a man that loved Christ with all his heart and soul.

He was born May 26, 1950 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Hudson Nathaniel and Loretta Mae (Woods) Killian.

He married Evette Johnson on July 17, 2010 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Du Quoin, Ill. and she survives.

Gerald leaves behind his wife - Evette Killian of Florissant, Mo.; two daughters - Candace Gillespie of Kenosha, Wis. and Paula Myers of Aurora, Ill.; one son - Billy Myers of Aurora, Ill.; three step children - Danyel Young of Atlanta, Ga., DeVaughn Gibson of Batavia, Ill. and Dominique Gibson of Batavia, Ill.; three sisters - Beverly (Tom) McClinton of Aurora, Ill., Sherri Clark of Du Quoin and Chanell Killian of Du Quoin; three brothers - Garland (Gail) Killian of Makanda, Ill., Armond (Debbie) Killian of Du Quoin and Wendall (Lisa) Killian of St. Johns; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, three aunts and one uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, one daughter - Rhonda Gillespie, and one brother - Shawn Killian.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Dr. Freddie A. Banks, Jr. officiating.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Friends may make memorials to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
