Nina L. Martin
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Nina L. Martin, 97, of Elkville, passed away at Noon on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin surrounded by her loving family.
Nina was a homemaker and ran an orphanage at Bush, Ill. She was a member of the Royalton Christian Church. Nina was an avid quilter.
She was born Jan. 28, 1913 at Murphysboro, Ill., the daughter of Cornelius "C.H." and Elona (Bretsch) Underwood.
She married Herbert Martin on June 10, 1933 at Benton, Ill. and he preceded her in death in January of 1968.
She is survived by two sisters - Frieda Miers of Freeburg, Ill. and Helen Perryman of Elkville, two brothers - William "Bill" Underwood and Herbert Underwood, both of Royalton, one sister-in-law - Mary Underwood of Elkville, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister - Wilma Havens Mastroddi, and one brother - Junior Underwood.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Elkville Christian Church at Elkville with Bro. Jerry Aken, Bro. Gary Pruitt, and Bro. Bill Underwood officiating.
Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the Elkville Christian Church at Elkville.
Burial was in the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery at Benton, Ill.
Friends may make memorials to the Royalton Christian Church or the Elkville Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
