</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The condition of Du Quoin Evening Call sports editor Jeff Profitt remains stable at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Profitt, 46, longtime newsman and sports journalist, was stricken last week by a stroke.

At this writing he is sitting up and undergoing physical therapy.

The ICU does not accept flowers.

We now have a mailing address for Jeff.
