Buster F. Alongi

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Buster F. Alongi, 99, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:20 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 4, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Buster was a retired electrician at the Freeman Coal Company having worked there for 35 years. He was of the Christian Faith. He was a HAM Radio Operator being licensed since 1936. His call sign was W9WED.

He was born March 4, 1911 at Du Quoin, Ill. the son of Pete and Hadie (Brosch) Alongi.

Buster married Margaret Dusie in 1931 and she passed away in January 1961. He then married Catherine L. Hardin on Dec. 11, 1971 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she preceded him in death May 30, 2006.

He is survived by three daughters- Marjorie Houghland and husband Lyle of Du Quoin, Mary Kay O&#39;Leary of St. Charles, Mo. and Sharon Ethridge of Oak Ridge, Tenn., son- Tom Hardin of Florissant, Mo., 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, son- Sonny, daughter- Carol Hardin Earley, brother- Ted Alongi, step sister- Laverne Lazar.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. C. L. McKinnies and Rev. Dan McKinnies officiating.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Activity Fund at the Fair View Nursing Center or the building fund of the First United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
