Charles W. Johnson Jr

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles W. Johnson Jr., 93, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:53 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Charles had worked for the City of Du Quoin Water Department for 18 years. He had also hauled coal for 20 years. He was a member of the Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin and the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Du Quoin.

He was born Dec. 12, 1916 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Charles W. and Martha (Hagan) Johnson, Sr.

He married Velma B. (Knupp) Griffin in May of 1953 at Arkansas and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2005.

He is survived by one daughter - Sharon Krack of Du Quoin, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.

Friends called from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Those attending the service were asked to go directly to the cemetery.
