GOLF: Du Quoin's Boys, Pinckneyville's Girls victorious

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Jacob Stanhouse shot a 38 and led Du Quoin&#39;s boys golf team to a ten-stroke victory Monday, topping teams from both Sparta and Pinckneyville at Red Hawk Country Club.

Jacob Fisher (44), Braden Woodside (45), and Howard Kelly (46) rounded out the Indians&#39; score of 173. Nolan Graham (48) and Matt Mason (53) also participated for Du Quoin. Sparta&#39;s 183 was good for second.

Pinckneyville was led by Adam Valentine&#39;s 43, Kyle Brocaille and Lipe shot 49, and Michael Siefert finished with a round of 52 totalling 193 strokes, the Panthers&#39; best team total for the season.

Will Travis (54) and Patrick Kovic (59) also posted rounds for Pinckneyville.

"We shot our best team total for the year but Du Quoin has shown quite an improvement," said PCHS head coach Dennis Kania.

Pinckneyville did claim the win in the girls&#39; matchup, a 26-stroke victory over Sparta as PCHS sophomore Heather McDaniel and Sparta freshman Kendra Kessler came away co-medalists with their scores of 40.

Kelsey Cicardi shot 45 for the Lady Panthers, Alexis Anderson 47 and Brooke Heisner 53 for Pinckneyville&#39;s total of 185.

Olivia Mathis (54), Mo Ramsey (54) and Wittenauer (63) rounded out the scoring for PCHS.

"We are starting to get more help from the rest of the lineup and showing a little more depth as the season is progressin," Kania commented.

The Lady Panthers are in action again this evening at home against Centralia and Sparta. Both the boys and girls teams are at Anna-Jonesboro on Wednesday.

Du Quoin&#39;s boys are at Harrisburg on Tuesday before traveling to Goreville on Wednesday.
