SOFTBALL: Lady Warriors defeat #204
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The DuQuoin Middle School softball team put together a great game and beat District #204 on Monday. The final score was 14-3. DuQuoin scored one in the first inning, one in the second, three in the fourth, two in the fifth and sixth, and 5 in the seventh inning. District #204 scored two runs in the second and one in the sixth.
Marisa Ferguson was the winning pitcher for DuQuoin pitching all seven innings. She allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits, had 10 strikeouts, and 5 walks. Her record moves to 11-3.
DuQuoin's record is now 11-3 and 7-0 in the conference. DuQuoin pounded out 19 hits.
Amber Williams was 1-5; Amanda Atteberry 3-4, 2b, 2 RBI; Marisa Ferguson 3-4, 2b, RBI; Sadie Day 2 R; Abby Doerr 1-4, RBI; Jacqueline Harsy 4-4, 2B, RBI; Hannah Marek 2-4, 2 RBI; Timbra Mansfield 1-4, RBI; Brittany Clark 1-1, RBI; Sidney Lewis 2-4, RBI; Kat Robison 1-5, RBI; Andrea Morgan was the flex player on defense.
Coach Jason James commented: "We came out a little slow the first couple of innings, but turned it on a little starting in the fourth. We hit the ball well again and got good pitching and defense tonight. We have to keep this going the next couple of days against the conference teams. We lost (Nikki) Ridgeway for the season with a knee injury, but I thought the girls that filled in for her played well. Again, I am very proud of the way the girls have been playing lately."
DuQuoin plays at Trico on Tuesday (4:00). DMS Baseball also plays at Trico on Tuesday.
