VOLLEYBALL: Tough losses for DHS, Elverado

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The DuQuoin High School Volleyball team had a tough night at Nashville on Monday evening. The varsity team lost to Nashville in two games and the JV also lost in two games. The freshman team pulled out a victory over Nashville 2-1 for the highlight of the evening.

In the Varsity match, DuQuoin lost 25-20 and 25-18. The starting lineup for DuQuoin of Jessica Hirsch, Rebekah Maddox, Megi Jones, Michaela Brown, Keawna Anders, Ashley Ward (Libero) and Kelsey Toler had a tough night against Nashville&#39;s spikers. The loss moves DuQuoin to 9-4 overall. Coach Isaac Miller commented that "I don&#39;t think we played our best match tonight. It takes a good match from us to beat Nashville. We made too many mistakes; that was the difference in the match."

Service points were: Ward 1, Anders 1, Jones 4, Brown 1, and Hirsch 1 (with an ace). Ward had 5 digs, Hirsch had 2, Brown with 4, Jones with 5, and Anders 3. Megi Jones led with 11 assists, followed by Jessica Martin with 5, and Hirsch with two. Maddox led with 10 kills, Kelsey Toler had 7, Brown had 2, Anders with 2, and Curry Emling with 1.

The Lady Indians&#39; junior-varsity squad fell to 0-2 this season, losing 25-12 and 25-23. Du Quoin&#39;s freshmen moved to 2-0 with a victory.

ELKVILLE, IL - The Elverado Lady Falcons (0-6) are still looking for win number one after dropping last night&#39;s home game to Hamilton County 25-17 and 25-8.

Tiffany Yearian had 3 kills and 4 digs for Elverado, Chelsea Cochran contributed 14 assists.

The J-V Lady Falcons improved to 6-3 on the season, topping the Lady Foxes 25-17, 25-23. Erika Vill had 11 kills in the match for Elverado.
