Leda Mildred Bailey

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Leda Mildred Bailey, 91, of Sunfield, passed away at 1:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital at Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Leda was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sunfield United Methodist Church, had taught Sunday School and was a choir member. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and was active in Church Women United. Leda was a member of Home Extension.

She was born Feb. 24, 1919 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Robert C. and Leda Kate (Marsteiner) Saunders.

She married Wesley "Tucker" Bailey on April 2, 1942 at Perryville, Mo. and he preceded her in death on May 25, 1988.

She is survived by two daughters - Ruth Bailey of Cairo, and Jan Weinberg and husband Richard of Du Quoin, five grandchildren - Kate (Brandon) Salsman of Lexington, Ky., Rachel (David) Buser of Schaumburg, Ill., Adam (Lindsey) Downs of Virginia Beach, Va., Matthew Weinberg of Philadelphia, Pa., and Charles Weinberg of Champaign, Ill., two great granddaughters - Lily Therese Downs and Anne Rachel Salsman and soon to arrive great grandson - Dale Wesley Downs, two nephews - Don Schutt and Joseph (Pat) Saunders.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters - Catherine Schutt, Peggy A. Saunders, and Esther Saunders in infancy, one brother - Joseph Saunders, and one nephew - James Saunders.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 at the Sunfield United Methodist Church at Sunfield with Pastor Donna Blythe officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Sunday.

Burial was at Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Sunfield United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
