VOLLEYBALL: Elverado in the win column

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Elverado Lady Falcons got into the win column for the first - and second - times this season with a pair of victories during Saturday&#39;s Round Robin Volleyball Tournament hosted by Elverado High School.

Christopher was able to squeak by the Lady Falcons in the tournament opener, with a 25-23, 25-22 victory, but then Elverado returned for the second match of the day to top Zeigler-Royalton 25-20, 25-19 to bring their nine-game losing streak to start the season to an end.

Erika Will led the way for Elverado in the loss to Christopher with 5 kills, 6 digs and 7 service points, Kelsi Teague also had 5 kills. In winning over Z-R, Tiffany Yearian had 3 kills and 8 digs, both of which led the Lady Falcons. Will added a pair of kills and 3 digs.

After an extended break for the tournament&#39;s next six matchups, Elverado met up with Crab Orchard in match #9 with the tournament title at stake. Crab had beaten Christopher in a matchup of the only two remaining tournament unbeatens in match #8.

Crab Orchard had a little too much for the Lady Falcons, handing them a 25-17, 25-20 defeat, as Elverado recorded only a single kill in the match (Teague). Yearian had 6 digs, Adrienne Hardwig had 4.

The Lady Falcons still had one game left, and salvaged a third place finish in their tournament with a tight 19-25, 26-24, 15-13 victory over Goreville in the finale.

Yearian and Hardwig each had 2 kills, Yearian also led the way with 7 digs. Hardwig and Chelsea Cochran each chipped in 6 digs, Jennifer Sarensen 5 for the Lady Falcons, who improved to 2-10 for the season.

Crab Orchard claimed the championship of the tournament with a 4-0 mark, Christopher was second, losing only to Crab Orchard.
