</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Despite another great pitching performance from Marissa Ferguson, Du Quoin could muster only a single hit at the plate and fell 2-0 to Nashville in middle school softball on Tuesday afternoon.

The loss ends the Lady Warriors' regular season with a 14-5 overall record, 11-1 in conference play.

"We are just having a hard time getting anything going offensively," said DMS head coach Jason James. "We had 2 errors that cost us 2 runs, which was the difference in the game."

Timbra Mansfield had the only hit for the Lady Warriors. Both teams' offenses struck out 15 times in the contest.

Ferguson went the distance giving up only three hits and walking two with both runs coming off of defensive miscues.

"I am very proud of the girls and the regular season they have had, no one really expected us to win that many games."

The Lady Warriors begin Regional tournament play today at 4:30 p.m. against Herrin, with the game being held at West Frankfort. The winner of today's game will meet the winner of tomorrow's West Frankfort-Johnston City matchup in Monday's final.

"It begins the 2nd season," said James. "We just need to come out focused and play hard and see what happens."
