It may not have been a shutout, but Chester's football squad turned in another outstanding effort in Saturday's easy 68-6 win over Elverado-Trico. Chester ran for an incredible 516 yards on only 32 carries as the Falcon defense struggled against Chester's high-powered offense.

Despite the final score, the first few minutes of the contest did offer a little drama. John Baughman's 60-yard touchdown run and an extra-point kick by Seth Johnson put the Yellow Jackets on the board with 9:35 left in the first quarter, but Elverado answered with a 41-yard run and a nine-yard touchdown pass at the 8:28 mark.

But from there, it was all Chester. A 45-yard run by Stephen Roth, a 26- yard run by Clint Cole and a 35-yard run by Baughman put the Yellow Jackets ahead 28-6 by the end of the first quarter.

The only score in the second quarter was a long drive capped by a four yard pass from Zach Lochhead to Justin Woodward that made the score 35-6 at halftime.

Two huge plays added 13 more points to the score in the third quarter. Cole had a 51-yard run at 11:43 and Baughman went 81 yards at 4:05.

Chester wrapped things up with three more scoring drives in the fourth. Joel Clendenin had a 63-yard run and a 36-yard fumble return while Tyler Jones scored on a five-yard run.

Top rushers for Chester were Baughman with 188 yards, Cole with 109, Clendenin with 94 and Roth with 84. Lochhead had two completions in four attempts for 33 passing yards.

Chester's next game is set for Friday as they take their 4-0 record to Johnston City to face the Black Diamond Conference's only other unbeaten squad.
