Lewis Retires from Dist. 300
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Du Quoin Community Unit District 300 educator and coach Mr. David Lewis retired from the district this week, finishing up the last five weeks of the new year necessary for retirement.
Mr. Lewis' retirement was effective Wednesday after 33 years of service to the students of District 300.
According to Dr. Kelly, he started in the district during the beginning of the 1977-78 school year and was able to retire after serving 27 days this school year (since he started in October of 1977).
Mr. Lewis has served as a long-time math teacher at the middle school level and has coached both girls (basketball and track) and recently boys athletics (track) during his tenure in the district.
He also was a sponsor of the Middle School Social Studies Club at one time. "He was definitely devoted to the students of the district and served as a positive role model for many years."
Mr. Hill adds, "He was a great contributor to the middle school and will missed by the students and faculty."
