St. Bruno Students Make Shirts at Main Street T's

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[For second and third grade students of St. Bruno's Catholic School in Pinckneyville, the assignment was simple: Learn the art of shirt-making at the popular Main Street T's sportswear shop in Du Quoin--then make your own shirt.

It was an extraordinary morning for the 25 students who participated in the wildly popular field trip Wednesday.

Owner Phillip Provart and his staff were very caring as they took students through the art of silk screening and embroidery at the large Du Quoin shop at the corner of East Main and Mulberry in Du Quoin.

The shop makes shirts for dozens of schools throughout Southern Illinois and provides athletic wear to many of the region's athletic programs.

For kids, making their own shirt was just plain fun. Students were taken through the steps of silk screening and drying the shirts and watched as the computerized embroidery machine stitched beautiful designs onto other shirts.

When the field trip ended, each marched out of the shop wearing the shirts they had made.
