CGS Jr. Jacket Cross Country runners perform well
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester Grade School cross Country Teams have run well at their first three meets of 2010. Coach Jennifer Stumpe has been extremely proud of her Boy's and Girl's squads so far this season. Stumpe is assisted by Dale Rucker.
The Varsity Girl's Team had only three runners at Harrisburg Tuesday Sept. 21 including Cheree Miller, McKenzi Rucker and Alyssa Keith. Cheree finished 3rd overall out of 63 runners with a time of 10.52. Rucker finished 7th with a time of 11:42 and Keith finished 50th with her time of 16:04.
The Varsity Boy's Team featured four boys including Cody Demster, Zac Conner, Logan Horman and Danny Simmons. Demster finished 8th out of 80 runners with a time of 10:06. Conner finished 27th. His time was 11:34. Simmons finished in 31st place with a time of 11:47 and Horman finished 44th (12:47).
In the JV Girl's race CGS entered nine runners. The Chester leader was Jackie Hopkins. She finished 8th overall with a time of 8:09. There were 69 competitors in the JV race.
Other JV girls included: Miah Mitchell (10th, 8:12), Haley Middendorf (13th, 8:19), Emily Tudor (15th, 8:25), Bri Chiles (26th, 9:00), Taylor Howie (29th, 9:14), Ashley Hennrich (30th, 9:17), Alexis Brunkhorst (60th, 13:22) and Avery Sebastian (64th, 14:25).
The JV Girls placed 2nd in the overall competition and earned a trophy for their efforts.
There were 11 boys from Chester compete in the Boy's JV race. A total of 79 boys competed in this event. Chester's leader was Curt Meyer who finished 10th overall with his 7:33 performance.
Other JV runners included: Derek Neal (14th, 7:46), Mitchell Colonel (26th, 8:36), Bailey Modglin (32nd, 8:48), Eian Sickles (34th, 8:55), Clay Herrell (35th, 9:00), Scotty Kozora (52nd, 9:49), Lance Bohnert (60th, 10:55), Tristin Delay (66th, 11:49), Adam Shipley (71st, 12:46) and Nick Morris (74th, 13:40).
On Wednesday Sept. 15 the Jr. Jackets made the long trip to Salem for the Annual Salem Invitational. Chester ran well and brought home some pretty nice scores. Stumpe and Rucker were, once again, pleased with the team's times especially since this was only the second meet of the 2010 season.
The Varsity Boys entered seven runners and all finished the race. Chester's leader was Cody Demster who had a time of 11:44. Cody placed 25th out of the field of 143 runners.
Other runners included: Zac Conner (93rd, 14:10), Derek Neal (97th, 14:17), Curt Meyer (106th, 14:39), Logan Horman (118th, 15:25), Danny Simmons (128th, 16:52) and Scotty Kozora (136th, 18:12).
The Varsity Girls had a good day finishing 8th overall. There were 111 competitors in this event and Chester entered seven competitors. Cheree Miller led CGS once again with a time of 16:30 and an overall finish of 9th.
Other CGS runners included: McKenzi Rucker (20th, 13:28), Haley Middendorf (63rd, 14:42), Bri Childs (77th, 15:58), Jackie Hopkins (83rd, 16:18), Miah Mitchell (85th, 16:30), Emily Tudor (87th, 16:40).
The JV Girl's Team had a good day finishing 11th overall. There were 103 competitors in the JV race. The first finisher for CGS was Ashley Hennrich who had a time of 10:51 and she finished 55th overall.
Other JV runners included: Taylor Howie (68th, 11:16), Alyssa Keith (75th, 11:38), Avery Sebastian (97th, 16:45) and Alexis Brunkhorst (98th, 16:43).
The JV Boy's Team finished 17th overall in their division. There were 132 runners in this race. The leader for Chester was Mitchell Colonel who turned in a time of 9:28. He finished 70th overall.
Other CGS runners included Eian Sickles (77th, 9:38), Bailey Modglin (102nd, 10:38), Clay Herrell (107th, 10:52), Lance Bohnert (114th, 11:08), Tristen Delay (120th, 12:16) and Adam Shipley (128th, 14:59).
At Mt. Vernon Sat. Sept. 18 all four Jr. Jackets teams fared well in spite of the early morning trip up Interstate 57. Cheree Miller paced the Lady Jr. Jackets with a 5th place finish and a time of 10:28 in the Girl's Varsity event. There were 89 runners in that race.
Other CGS Girl's Varsity runners included: McKenzi Rucker (29th, 11:30), Haley Middendorf (52nd, 12:33), Bri Childs (62nd, 13:25) and Jackie Hopkins (82nd, 15:18).
The Varsity Boy's squad had six runners. There were 122 total runners in the varsity race. Chester's leading runners was Cody Demster who turned in a time of 9:40 and a 12th place overall finish.
The other CGS runners included: Zac Conner (78th, 11:40), Derek Neal (92nd, 12:30), Logan Horman (105th, 12:53), Baylee Modglin (109th, 13:35) and Josh Grott (122nd, 22:23).
Curt Meyer led the Boy's JV with a time of 8:55. Meyer finished 26th overall out of a total of 115 runners. Six boys competed from Chester in the JV event.
Other competitors included: Mitchell Colonel (54th, 9:30), Scotty Kozora (83rd, 10:18), Clay Herrell (85th, 10:30), Eian Sickles (96th, 11:14) and Tristen Delay (104th, 12:27).
The JV girl's Team was paced by 5th grader, Miah Mitchell who recorded a time of 10:02. There were five Chester JV runners and 93 JV runners overall. Mitchell finished 28th out of the 93 JV Girl's competitors.
Other CGS runners included: Emily Tudor (60th, 11:25), Alyssa Keith (66th, 11:42), Alexis Brunkhorst (83rd, 14:25) and Avery Sebastian (85th, 14:51).
