</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[CHESTER - Everyone is invited to attend the Mission Fair titled "Go Tell About Jesus" at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester on Sunday, October 17 from 1-4 p.m. The Mission Fair will be held in the church Parish Hall and will feature a combination of education, inspiration and fun! Visitors will be informed about missions around the globe and local missions supported by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Informative and entertaining exhibits will feature themed food, music and entertainment.

The Mission Fair will feature exhibits on Guatemala, Haiti, Taiwan, South Africa, Thailand, Deaf Ministry, Braille Ministry, Prison/Jail Ministry, Children's Christian Concern Society and Hispanic Ministry.

Participants will receive a "passport" to travel through the various lands of the exhibits. The interactive global exhibits will feature artifacts, maps, flags, posters, photos and creative costumes. Foreign language Bibles will be on display and ethnic food samples will be offered. The interactive local mission displays will include signing demonstrations and Braille scriptures. St. John Lutheran school students will perform musical selections during the afternoon. The students will be dressed in handmade creative costumes to represent the featured countries. Refreshments will be served and donations will be accepted for any of the presented missions.

A 12 foot tall pyramid will be the center of the event with a theme to "reach out to the world". The pyramid will be a scaled reproduction of the oldest and largest pyramid in Egypt - the Great Pyramid of Giza. The interior will be fashioned as a reconstructed burial chamber. Authentic Egyptian artifacts will be on display with some dating from 1550 BC. These items are from the collection of St. John member Mike McClure and some are over 3,500 years old. Assistants wearing ancient style Egyptian costumes will offer to draw visitors' names in Egyptian hieroglyphics.

Reverend Larry Vogel, associate executive director of the CTCR, will give a presentation during the event and visit with participants throughout the afternoon. Reverend Vogel will also deliver the message at all three St. John weekend services (Sat. 6:30 p.m., Sun. 7:45 and 10 a.m.) and lead the 9 a.m. Adult Bible Study on Sunday.

Please join the members of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester to learn more about local and global mission work.
