GOLF: PCHS's Valentine moves on to sectional

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Pinckneyville&#39;s Adam Valentine was the only Perry County representative to advance to the Carterville Sectional on Tuesday, finishing sixth amongst the non-qualifying teams to get the chance to play October 11 at Crab Orchard.

Valentine shot a round of 84 at Union County Country Club in Anna, Benton&#39;s Thomas Simpson paced everyone with a bogey-free round of 68 to claim medalist honors.

Benton and Massac County tied atop the team leaderboard with scores of 311, Carterville also advanced to the sectional with their 338. Du Quoin placed ninth on the day with a 391, Pinckneyville shot 438 as a team, good for sixteenth.

Du Quoin&#39;s Jacob Stanhouse tied for tenth place with a round of 89, which would have qualified him for the sectional, but he lost in a playoff.

Coach Gary Brock commented he was very proud of Stanhouse&#39;s performance and his entire team.

Also taking part for the Indians were Jacob Fisher (97), Nolan Graham (103) and Howard Kelly (102).
