The Falcons led most of the game, and had a three-run advantage heading into Rome's last at-bat, but the Green Hornets rallied for a dramatic come-from-behind win.
With the game knotted 3-3 in the top of the fourth inning, St. Bruno-Tamaroa jumped ahead on a triple by Nolan Bruns that plated Cole Bigham, who had singled to lead of the inning.
Robbie Borchelt then drove in Bruns with a single for a 5-3 Falcons lead.
Rome trimmed the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth when Chris Hufford doubled down the left field line to start the inning and was eventually driven home on a groundout by Seth Gass.
In need of insurance runs, the Falcons tacked on two more on the top of the seventh after starting pitcher Nolan Luke sent the Green Hornets down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the sixth. After Luke walked with one out, Adam Banach singled to center, and Luke would score on a wild pitch moments later. With Banach at third, Brock Bullar stepped up to the plate and executed a safety squeeze to perfection as both runners ended up safe. The Falcons headed to the last half-inning with a 7-4 lead.
Disaster struck for SB-T in the bottom of the seventh, however, as the Green Hornets' luck began to change.
Hufford led off with a single, then Ross Piercy drew a walk. Quinton Kujawa followed with a weakly-hit grounder to the left side that got through for a single to load the bases with nobody out.
Trey Issac then stepped up big for Rome with a 2 RBI single to right, leaving runners at first and third. Tyler Rulevish came in to relieve Luke, but a tricky hop on a ground ball brought the game to an end as Sam Storment reached first base safely and Kujawa and Issac came around to score.
Bruns led the way for the Falcons at the plate going 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Rulevish was also 2-for-4 (R), Luke 1-3 (2R, RBI), Banach 1-4 (R, RBI), Bullar 1-3, Bigham 1-3 (R), and Tyler Iubelt plated a run.
