More grant funding for police department

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester Police Department has received a grant for replacement of bulletproof vests. The grant provides for 50% of the costs of the replacement of vests. The grant has provided $7,330.00 for the vest purchases. All bulletproof vests have an expiration date and the majority of our officers are wearing vests that are approaching that expiration date. The typical bulletproof vest has a life of approximately five years.

Funding for this grant is provided through the Department of Justice Bullet-Proof Partnership Program. Chief Coffey plans to make these purchases in the spring of 2011.
