VOLLEYBALL: PCHS eliminated by Sparta

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Pinckneyville's volleyball season came to an end last night, as the Lady Panthers fell in round one of the Sparta Regional to the host Lady Bulldogs 20-25, 25-21, 25-16.

Maddy Keith led the Lady Panthers with 10 kills, Taylor Cicardi added 7. Haley Simpson chipped in 5 digs, Lindsey Winter 4.

Sara Malanowski's 17 assists led PCHS, Winter pitched in with 8, and shared the team lead in digs (13) with Cicardi. Keith finished with 9 digs.

Keith, a senior, was playing her first game since missing last week's game at Marissa with an ankle injury.

The two S.I.R.R. conference Mississippi division squads split the season series, and were meeting for the third time in just sixteen days.

The loss ends the Lady Panthers' season at an even 14-14 for 2010. PCHS is coached by Katie Shaneyfelt, Jacqueline White and Julie Lamb.

Sparta advances into Saturday's championship.
