Board approves the intent to hire Diddlebock as Superintendent
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Board of Education of Chester Community Unit School District No. 139 met in the Chester School District Unit Office on October 21, 2010. President Beers called the Regular Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Ms. Keim introduced Cherie Diercks to the Board; she is a para-professional at the grade school.
Jeff Kordys spoke with the Board about his concerns with the Grade School 7th/8th Grade Boys Basketball Program.
The Board approved the minutes for the Regular Meeting and Executive Session of September 16, 2010.
The Board approved the minutes for the Budget Hearing of October 7, 2010.
The Board approved the executive session minutes for the Superintendent Interviews of September 14, September 25, September 28, September 29, October 12 and October 13, 2010.
Rich Clasen updated The Board on the Technology Department.
Scott Bert was not at the meeting but submitted information to The Board on the Maintenance Department.
Mr. Coffey was not at the meeting.
Mr. Kittell, High School Principal, reported to the Board of Education:
Homecoming went well.
The EXPLORE and PLAN Tests will be given at the high school on October 22nd.
The Student Council will be sponsoring a blood drive November 2nd.
Mr. Lochhead, Grade School Principal, reported to the Board of Education:
September 30th was the Walk-A-Thon.
October 7th the Kindergarten class visited the Fire Station.
October 12th was the Walk-A-Thon Assembly.
Ms. Keim, District Superintendent, reported to the Board of Education:
Ms. Keim updated the Board on creating a Surplus Policy.
Ms. Keim updated the Board on the office addition.
Ms. Keim state that our fund balances are healthy in spite of the state owing us $471,045.
The Board approved the district bills in the amount of $813,777.16 and district payroll in the amount of $406,560.75 as presented.
The Board approved the following consent agenda items:
The facility use for the City of Chester Christmas on the River.
The facility use for the Girl Scout Troop #8942.
Jamieson Eggemeyer as 5th Grade Head Co-Ed Basketball Coach.
Roger Cowan as High School Fresh. Boys Basketball Volunteer.
Beth Speer as 5th Grade Co-Ed Basketball Volunteer.
Charles Knowles as High School Fresh. Girls Basketball Coach.
Trevor Kelkhoff as Grade School 5th Grade Boys Basketball Coach.
The Board approved Beth Speer as Grade School 6th Grade Head Girls Basketball Coach.
The Board approved Beth Brown, para-professional at the Grade School for one six hour day per week for the remainder of the 2010-2011 school year.
The Board approved Brittany Engel, para-professional at the Grade School for one six hour day per week for the remainder of the 2010-2011 school year.
The Board approved Kyra Heck, para-professional at the Grade School for one six hour day per week for the remainder of the 2010-2011 school year.
The Board approved Pollyanna Bert as 10 month secretary at the High School beginning November 4, 2010.
The Board approved the intent to hire Christopher Diddlebock as Superintendent beginning July 1, 2011 pending details of the contract.
The Board approved the surveying of the Unit Building Property.
The Board entered into executive session at 7:35 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body.
The Board returned to open session at 8:00 p.m.
The Board adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
