</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[On November 3, the Chester Police Department and the Chester School District recently organized a canine search of both Chester High School and the Junior High at Chester Grade School. The search was geared toward identifying the presence of illegal drugs and demonstrates a commitment to a drug free learning environment at Chester Unit School District 139. Chester Police Canine Handler Joe Swallers organized area Police Canine Handlers to assist in the search. This group also conducted similar searches at other area schools later that day. On November 5, Chief Coffey presented both the Chester High School and Chester Grade School with Certificates of Appreciation for their participation in promoting a drug-free environment.
