Du Quoin Dist. 300 May Revisit Teacher Contract
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Du Quoin Board of Education meets at 4:30 p.m. today and one of the items on the agenda is listed as "Collective Bargaining."
The item states "Approval of memorandum of agreement to re-enact contractual salary-benefit terms in accordance with the present contract between the Du Quoin Education Association and Board of Education."
The board asked the Du Quoin Education Association for a wage, salary and benefits freeze in September because of shortfalls in state aid.
The board stated that should state funding become available, it would consider rescinding that freeze. Superintendent Dr. Gary Kelly was at the DHS construction site this morning and was not immediately available to explain.
The agenda includes presentation of school improvement planning initiatives at each school level with approval of the submittal of plans to ISBE, an update on high school construction, discussion regarding overview of posting of staff positions relative to retirements for this school year in preparation for the next school year.
The board will approve an ACH banking agreement with Du Quoin State Bank to designate a district business manager/treasurer as district assignee.
The board will discuss a 1 to 1 technology program study for the district and will hold a preliminary discussion on the 2010 district property tax levy payable in 2011.
The board will consider the approval of the winter extra-curricular volunteer.
The board meeting will be held in the media center at the Du Quoin Middle School. The meetings are open to the public.
