BASKETBALL: Junior High Round-up (11-16)

Pinckneyville Junior High School's girls improved to 6-4 this season by knocking off Chester 45-27 last night with three Junior Lady Panthers finishing in double-digit scoring.
Keelyn Stein topped the scoring chart with her 13 points, Maddie Jones and Kaitlyn Goldman each finished with 10. Brooklyn Morrow had 8 points, Raygan Yates and Taylor Griffin each had 2.
The Junior Lady Panthers were also victorious in the junior-varsity contest with a 16-14 final.
Morrow had 10 of the team's 16 points, Morgan Gleason, Daisy Dudek and Caitlyn Anderson each finished with 2.
In Monday's action, Trico came out on top handing PJHS a 40-35 defeat at Trico.
Stein led the Junior Lady Panthers with 10 points, Jones added 9, Goldman 7, Yates 6 and Griffin 3.
Trico also took Monday's junior varsity contest, topping PJHS 33-27. Brooklyn Morrow led the J-V Junior Lady Panthers with 12 points.
PJHS (Dist. #50) returns to the floor Thursday at Nashville (JV 6:00 p.m.).
<u>#204 girls handle TSB</u>
Behind a 12-3 second quarter and 15 points from Megan Bagley, Pinckneyville District #204 improved to 14-0 by defeating Tamaroa-St. Bruno 42-21 last night at #204 school.
Sophie Keith joined Bagley in double figures for the Tigers with 11 points, Taylor Smith added 8, Torrie Carter 4, and Caitie Opp and Maggie Sanders each finished with 2.
The Lady Indians were led by Kaylee Rulevish's 9 points, Dalis Hubler chipped in with 7, Chelsey Moss 3 and Tamara Williams 2.
#204 is back at it Thursday evening as they host Elverado, Tamaroa-St. Bruno travels to Giant City with the junior-varsity games tipping off at both locations at 6:00 p.m.
<u>Nashville too much for PJHS boys</u>
Nashville pulled away with an 18-7 third quarter and handed the PJHS boys a 52-31 defeat last night, the Junior Panthers' first conference loss of the young season.
Austin Ferguson finished with 13 points to lead PJHS, Trent Hicks added 9, Jacob Downard 4, Zach Hagene and Ryan Harris 2, Clayton Houghland 1.
The Junior Panthers are off until November 23 when they host Murphysboro.
<u>TSB boys stay hot in win over Desoto</u>
Nolan Luke led all scorers with 18 points and Brock Bullar added 12 as the Indians blew past Desoto 52-29, pulling away during a 22-6 second quarter.
Adam Banach chipped in 8 points, Cole Bigham 6, Robbie Borchelt 4, and Tyler Iubelt and Jackson Brand each had 2.
The J-V Indians also came away victorious with a 34-19 defeat, improving to 2-3 for 2010-11. Bullar's 16 points led the way in that contest.
TSB (6-3, 2-0) won for the fourth consecutive game and will go for a fifth on Thursday night when they host Giant City at the Tamaroa Community Center (JV - 6:00 p.m.).
