BASKETBALL: Junior High Roundup (12-07)
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Tamaroa-St. Bruno and Pinckneyville (District #204) continued their apparent collision course at the TSB Indian Invitational junior high basketball tournament on Tuesday, both winning in convincing fashion to move to 2-0 for the event.
The Tigers will take on Desoto (also 2-0) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to decide one pool winner while TSB needs only to take care of the #204 junior varsity squad (taking the place of Elverado) in the 7:45 contest to win their pool and advance to Saturday's 1:45 p.m. championship.
The third place game preceeds the title game at 12:30 p.m.
<u>TSB smokes St. Ann 58-25</u>
Brock Bullar scored 14 points and Jordan Grissom added 13 as Indian Invitational host Tamaroa-St. Bruno cruised to a 58-25 dismissal of St. Ann on Thursday evening.
TSB got by Unity on Monday, and will earn a spot in the championship if they defeat #204's junior varsity squad on Thursday.
Nolan Luke pitched in 10 points to make three Indians in double figures, Robbie Borchelt added 8, Adam Banach 7, Jackson Brand 4 and Tyler Iubelt 2.
<u>#204 boys continue to roll</u>
Caleb "Lieutenant" Dahn continued his domination of area junior high basketball opponents with a 17-point performance on Tuesday night to help his Tigers improve to 15-1 overall and 2-0 in the Indian Invite with a 47-27 defeat of Trinity St. John Immanual Lutheran (Okawville).
Austin Kreger contributed 6 steals while Sam Simpson dished out 5 assists for Pinckneyville (Dist. #204).
The Tigers can wrap up their pool and head into Saturday's championship with a victory over Desoto on Thursday evening.
<u>#204 girls edge Elverado</u>
Despite a forgetful night at the free throw line (11-for-28), Pinckneyville District #204's girls snuck by Elverado 40-37 on Tuesday night to move to 18-2 for the season.
Megan Bagley led the way with 13 points, Taylor Smith added 9, Sophie Keith 8, Torrie Carter 6 and Caitie Opp 3.
Thursday is '8th grade night' at Pinckneyville (Dist. #204) when the Lady Tigers host Desoto (6:00 p.m. - JV).
