Officials present $750 check to DHS
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[On December 22, 2010, on behalf of the officials of the Egyptian Officials Association and the coaches of the Southern Illinois Coaches Association, Du Quoin High School was presented a check for $750.00 just before taking on cross-county rival Pinckneyville in boys' varsity basketball in front of a standing-room only crowd.
Representing the officials were Cory Miller, Dana Pearson and Mike Dammerman, and accepting on behalf of DHS was Dr. Gary Kelly.
On the 30th of July, at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale, the Egyptian Officials Association and the Southern Illinois Coaches Association held their 9th annual scholarship outing to benefit the students of southern Illinois with the cost of their continued education.
With the support of the southern Illinois Mcdonald's family, 17th Street Bar and Grill, Marion Pepsi, Silkworm, Louie's P&R and Koerner Distributors, this outing raised over $24,000 with all of the money going back to the high school students for help with their college expense.
In the 9 years the officials and coaches have worked together on this outing, the total raised is over $153,000.
31 schools in all will benefit from the outing this year.
