While it may be sad to play your final game, the team has much to be proud of this season. Their final overall record is 12-10.
DuQuoin was down 5-2 at the end of the first quarter, and 12-5 at the half. At the end of the third quarter, Trico was leading 22-6.
Carissa Graham was the leading scorer with 10 points. Jacqueline Harsy had 2, and Marisa Ferguson 1.
The leading scorer for Trico was Haleigh Heins with 14 points.
Coach Debbie Ritter added this: "I will have to say that it was a great feat to hold a team like Trico to only 27 points. Our girls played some outstanding defense. Our problem was we could not hit a shot. Carissa Graham scored our only field goals of the game. The girls had a great season and have come a long way. I am hoping to see them on the floor next year in high school."
"Marisa Ferguson dug deep today, and went back into the game even after a pretty ugly looking elbow injury. It took a lot of guts for her to do that. The Harsy girls (Jessica and Jacqueline) and Amanda Atteberry all three did a good job trying to close down the inside. I am pleased with this season and the girls accomplishments."
This was Coach Debbie Ritter's first year as the head coach for DMS Girls Basketball, and she ended the season with a winning record. Coach Ritter was assisted by the seventh grade coach, Chuck Montgomery.
